Bernard Founou Tchuigoua is the director of research at the Forum du Tiers Monde (Third World Forum), a non-profit international organisation of committed intellectuals from the South based in Senegal. He was a former professor at the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning (IDEP).

On the issue of North–South relations he has published influential articles such as L'Occident contre la formation d’un potentiel économique de démocratisation au Sud (Alternatives Sud), The revised Washington, La crise des finances publiques et la dénationalisation de l’Etat, Migrations de travail et insécurités humaines.
